We kicked off the tour in Seattle, which claims to be a sanctuary city but where activists from Northwest Detention Center Resistance/Resistencia NWDC and immigrant rights leader Maru Mora have been challenging the detention of immigrants and supporting the hunger strikes organized by detainees. As an outspoken activist against deportation and detentions, ICE has initiated a deportation case against Maru. But Maru and her community are fighting back and defending their right to organize.
